RE Projects Development (REPD) On behalf of subsidiary Persley Croft BESS lTD,is pleased to announce Aberdeen City Council have given the green light for a 49.9-Megawatt Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Persley Croft in Aberdeen. Located on the outskirts of Aberdeen, the site has the capacity to store enough electricity to power 1,000s of homes a year.
The approved development will include a compound housing battery strings, a welfare unit, substation infrastructure, CCTV and security fencing, and associated landscaping. The project will be able to import, store, and export power, helping to stabilize grid supply, particularly during peak demand periods.
REPD were able to develop a sensitive site looking to provide extensive improvements on the existing site. The site is located on an old piggery that has fallen into a state of disrepair. The proposal will result in the redevelopment of the site. With improved planting and screening, it is expected to improve the visual outlook over the site from the Parkway that runs alongside.
